It’s that time of year folks, Spring Break is upon us and personally, I could not be more grateful for this week long break that we have been graced with in the middle of our spring semester (although, I do think it could be a little bit longer but I’ll take what I can get). College students (and post-grads too!) take this time to get some much needed rest and relaxation that our priorities were not letting us achieve in the previous months.
When we think of Spring Break, we think of the warm sun glistening on our bodies as we tan with our besties and a fruity, tropical drink. Media, friends, THE PEOPLE consider Spring Break to be the “end all, be all” of vacations and some may even come back to school with a few regrets.

Who knows what will happen.
But here’s the deal, not everyone experiences their Spring Breaks the same. Work, home life, and expenses can all potentially get in the way of a wild spring break, so maybe a Cancun trip isn’t in your cards.
OKAY, SO WHAT NOW?
The underlying question resides, what do you do on vacation if you aren’t going on a trip but still want a solid, vacation? Well my friends, I am here to give you a quick guide on alternatively hyped spring break options, take a gander at what I got below.
PLAN A MINI ROAD TRIP WITH FRIENDS
Grab your closest friends, choose a destination that no one has been to within 5-8 hours from your home, get an Airbnb, and pack your bags. Plan the trip for 3-4 days and choose two hot-spot in that location. Split the money for gas, bring your own meals for breakfast and lunch, and you’re on your way to a memorable, penny-saving vacation that will definitely be Insta-worthy.
HOST A POOL PART
Does your apartment complex have a pool? Get all your friends who are staying home for break together and throw a savvy themed pool party with food to match. Suggest BYOB, send out quick e-vites or make a Facebook page and get your friends hyped. Come on, who can say no to food, drinks and a pool on a warm day?
SPEND THE DAY AT THE BEACH + EVENING BONFIRE
Live by a beach or a lake? Pack your coolers, blankets, plus your favorite snacks and drinks and travel down coast side. Invite your friends for an all day beach adventure until sundown and don;t forget your smores accessories! IMPORTANT: Make sure your local lake or beach allows bonfires and check the weather in advance, no one likes a cold beach day.
HELLO, SPRING CLEAN!
Two words: Spring. Cleaning. We can all agree that maybe we should clean out our closest and get rid of that one top we insist on keeping because “you never when you’ll need it”. Sure, we are in college and we most likely cannot afford to change our entire wardrobe, but we can afford to get rid of clothes that are taking up space and have a more stress-free/organized closet space. BONUS TIP: Once you have all your clothes organized, throw them in a bag and donate them to your local Goodwill or other providers, someone else will find plenty of opportunities to flaunt your top that you never got around to showing off.
GET SOME FRESH AIR, TAKE A HIKE
For months, we have been locked up in our dorms, apartments, or libraries hidden behind endless assignments and textbooks. Outdoors? Fresh air? I don’t know her. But this week you will, and it will be a fabulous moment to reunite. Depending on where you live, find a popular hiking spot with a VIEW, pack a lunch, and take the day to clear your mind with a change of scenery.
EXPERIENCE MUSIC EUPHORIA WITH BEYOND WONDERLAND
Are you a rave music fanatic? Do you love music festivals but can’t afford Coachella or Stagecoach? Then look no further, Beyond Wonderland is on March 16-17 this year in southern California. Take a road trip (if you’re far) or hop on over to the festival and take your mind off of priorities for a day and experience the music! Personally, I’ve never been but I’ve heard it’s a lifetime experience, try it out!
