Hot Seat: Should president’s be allowed to use Twitter negatively for their own perks?

Freedom of speech has been seen as a right of passage for all walks of life. I imagine that back in “horse and carriage days” our ancestors dipped their toes in gossip and shared their opinions over the butter churner. Fast forward to the year 2017 and people are sharing their opinions through social media platforms (i.e. Twitter, Instagram, Facebook (repeat offender) and public forums) within their techie toys for the whole world to see. All it takes is one screenshot, one news article, one curious set of eyes to see something that perhaps cannot go unseen, let’s use Twitter as our shining star.

Don’t feed the fear, keep the faith

On October 1, late Sunday night, 22,000 country fans stood to listen to country singer, Jason Aldean, perform at the Route 91 Harvest Music Festival in Las Vegas, Nevada. Not long before Aldean began to sing his song, “When She Says Baby” rounds of shots were fired from the 32nd floor window of the nearby hotel, Mandalay Bay Resort. That night, America faced a tragic attack that resulted in the loss of 58 lives. Technically speaking, the death count is 59, however, I am only counting the number of lives that matter. It is inhumane for someone to take the lives of innocent people. That may sound like common sense to most of you, but with what’s been going on around the world lately I felt the need to clarify that it is most certainly not okay. Sprightly’s Guide to: Anxiety

It’s Saturday night and you’re out with your friends, music’s blaring and people are surrounding you, you have a drink in your hand and you’re laughing with your friends but moments later, your mind trails off. Suddenly, worrisome thoughts come tumbling through your brain: your plans for tomorrow that were poorly planned, a project that’s due, and even thoughts about an embarrassing conversation you had the day before makes a special appearance. You’re in deep now and it appears that nobody has noticed your derailment but yourself. “1, 2, 3, breathe”, you say to yourself and just like that you’re back in the conversation, for now. We have finally reached the month of September and you know what that means? I’m talking about Starbucks advertisements invading your personal space with Pumpkin Spice Latte flavored EVERYTHING, seasoned decor that you refuse to put away the rest of the year because “it fits your theme” and Uggs, the shoes you can’t wear in the office but will try with diligence and resistance.  Now, don’t get me wrong all of this is exciting enough to get your panties in a bunch but something bigger just came our way and I think you know what I’m going to say. September is known for much more than what I just mentioned, this month is famously known for being the staple “iPhone release month”. Yup, the new iPhone 8 and better yet, the iPhone X has just been announced and it’s more extravagant than ever. Continue reading “Apple: Now Taking your Soul as Payment for iPhone X”

Fun Ways to Workout

Working out is one of the most important committed relationships you will ever be in. It takes work, determination, and consistency. Whether you do it to eat whatever you want without feeling guilty, for health reasons, to fit back into your favorite pair of jeans, or to make use out of all your Lululemon clothes. Whatever the reason, it’s good for you, but it can be very difficult for some people. I get it, I mean why would you want to leave the comfort of your bed and Netflix account for the cold unwelcoming stair-master? Continue reading “Fun Ways to Workout”
